We invite you to celebrate the coming season with jars bubbling on your counter and living flavours on your table. Get into the holiday spirit with this joyful, hands-on festive workshop where we’ll bring together the warmth of the season and the magic of fermentation. Under Anna’s guidance, you’ll learn the basics of safe fermentation, and make and taste three delicious ferments designed especially for winter celebrations. These ferments are perfect for gifting or serving at your own festive table and are packed full of gut-healthy probiotics to support your health over winter.
- We’ll start with Xmas Chutney, naturally fermented inspired by festive flavours, that will pair beautifully with cheese boards, roasts, or holiday leftovers.
- Then you get your hands into massaging a root veg salad, a powerhouse of probiotics and prebiotics, great for using up an array of seasonal root vegetables, that will give a powerful dose of fibre, vitamins, and beneficial microbes to support your gut during the colder months.
- Next will be a real treat for the whole family, fermented mulled punch, non-alcoholic version of mulled wine or glühwein. Full of festive spices and gentle fizz, this drink is a delight for kids and adults alike, refreshing, nourishing, and full of seasonal cheer.
Alongside making your own ferments, you’ll enjoy a tasting session featuring pre-made samples and learn how to adapt the recipes to your taste and the produce you have at hand.
All participants will receive a PDF handout with detailed recipes (plus bonus festive variations) and lifetime access to our private Facebook group for follow-up questions and tips.
We ask participants to bring 3 glass jars with lids each around 500 ml and a carrier bag or other suitable bag (Kilner or Fido type jars are best but you can use any jar, including reused or new screw top), as this helps us to keep the cost of the course down and encourages the re-use of old jars.
Cancellations
We appreciate that there will be circumstances whereby you will need to cancel your course or change the date. Given two or more weeks notice we are happy to offer a full refund. For cancellations within two weeks of the class date a full refund will be offered if we can refill your booking or 50% refund if not. If the notice is given 1 week before the course, the refund is at the discretion of The Fermentarium. We are unable to refund cancellations with less than 24 hours notice of the start of the class.
